Air Products Introduces Improved Form of Lonzacure® MCDEA-GS Curative for Cast Elastomer Market

May 7, 2001 at 11:15 AM EDT

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) has introduced a new, pelletized curative, Lonzacure® MCDEA-GS curative, offering improved processability for the cast elastomer market. The new material will replace the company's conventional Lonzacure MCDEA curative. Identical in composition and properties to the conventional material, Lonzacure MCDEA-GS curative improves performance, as it will not clump while in storage—even in hot, humid weather. This enables manufacturers of cast elastomers to easily dispense the entire contents of a container, and virtually eliminates nuisance product dusting.

Air Products developed this new product to better serve its cast elastomer manufacturing customers. "We have thoroughly tested Lonzacure MCDEA-GS curative in our labs and in field use to ensure its performance," stated Prentis W. Hall, Air Products' marketing manager, Polyurethane Specialty Products. He continued by saying,  We are able to offer this easier to use material without making changes to the packaging or adding cost.  He also pointed out that like with the conventional material, samples and orders for Lonzacure MCDEA-GS curative could be requested on-line at www.airproducts.com/markets.

Lonzacure MCDEA-GS curative, used with Air Products' Airthane® and Versathane® high-performance TDI prepolymers, provides significant improvements in dynamic and high-temperature properties in cast elastomers, as compared to commercially available systems. Additional benefits of this low-toxicity material include improved abrasion resistance in the finished polyurethane elastomer, improved resilience of the vulcanizate, and imparting transparent qualities to the finished polyurethane.
