Air Products Ancamide® 2634 Curing Agent is Cost-Effective Solution

High performance at a low cost, that's how Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) describes Ancamide® 2634 curing agent, its new curing agent product being offered globally for heavy-duty maintenance coatings in areas challenged by corrosion and chemical exposure. Air Products is unveiling Ancamide 2634 curing agent as part of its epoxy product offerings during the International Coatings Expo being held in Philadelphia, Pa. from November 12-14, 2003.

"This product was developed to have very high barrier properties to help provide coatings with added protection against corrosion and chemical attack. It is very good in primers, build and barrier coats, and gloss enamels," said Dave Dubowik, principal applications chemist for Air Products. Dubowik added that examples of heavy-duty applications include coating railcars, ocean freighters, and pipe coatings for off-shore drilling rigs and multiple heavy industry manufacturing facilities that come in near constant contact with corrosive and chemical elements.

Ancamide 2634 curing agent is based on a unique Air Products proprietary technology and is a building block product. It is a modified polyamide-curing agent designed for use in two component solvent borne epoxy coatings. It offers a faster dry and better low temperature cure than conventional polyamides with high blush resistance, good adhesion and flexibility.

"This is a cost-effective component used to make paint for industrial applications that has demonstrated higher performance capabilities, even in elevated temperature applications, when compared to other polyamides. We've tested this over an array of performance attributes, and customers will be very pleased with its durability," said Dubowik.
