News Release
Air Products Goes Live with Ariba Enterprise Sourcing
Sunnyvale, Calif.
Ariba, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBA), the leading Enterprise Spend Management (ESM) solutions provider, today announced that Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) has gone live with Ariba® Enterprise Sourcing™. Air Products selected Ariba Enterprise Sourcing last Fall to help standardize and improve its online sourcing processes—including locating suppliers and generating requests for quotations—to help manage spend across the company.
Since utilizing Ariba® Spend Management™ solutions, including Ariba® Buyer™ and the Ariba® Supplier Network™, Air Products has already realized several million dollars in annual savings by increasing the volume of purchased goods from its preferred suppliers, consolidating its supply base and lowering its transactional costs. Currently, more than 1,700 active users in the US and UK have access to Ariba Buyer. The system enables employees to purchase items such as office supplies, lab and safety supplies, pipes, valves and fittings, and promotional items from their desktops.
By complementing its e-procurement system with Ariba Enterprise Sourcing, Air Products can now manage spend across its entire buying process—including, planning, analyzing, sourcing, requisitioning and ordering. The product will also help the company to ensure that users comply with contracts from preferred suppliers though the Ariba Supplier Network.
"With Ariba we quickly saw the benefits of investing in e-procurement to further streamline our purchasing process, lower costs and save money," said Mark Connar, Air Products' director, Supply Management. "We also realized we needed additional enabling tools to gain further efficiencies in our strategic sourcing process. With the addition of Ariba Enterprise Sourcing, we will now have additional capabilities in our entire purchasing process to support better sourcing decisions."
Said David Rudnitsky, vice president and general manager, PharmaChem Business Unit, Ariba Inc., "In today's economic climate, leading companies like Air Products need a solution that provides measurable, rapid and significant cost savings to help them remain competitive and better serve their customers over the long term."
The Ariba Spend Management solution helps CFOs and procurement professionals manage and leverage their organization's entire spend lifecycle, including assessing spending activities, conducting effective sourcing and capturing and reconciling spend enterprisewide. The solution automates and streamlines current processes, leveraging existing infrastructure, achieving high user and supplier adoption rates, and optimizing sourcing and procurement effectiveness.
